Founder

Charles Thomas Studd (C.T. as he is often known) made his first advance to evangelise the heart of Africa in 1913, believing it to be the neediest part of the unevangelised world at that time, and so founded the Heart of Africa Mission.

God's promise to C.T. Studd was that his journey was not for the heart of Africa only, but for the whole unevangelised world. The work spread to other nations concentrating on areas and peoples who were not being reached by evangelical churches or agencies. This emphasis continues today.

Founding principles 

Studd defined the following principles for the work:

• Absolute faith in the deity of each person of the Trinity.

• Absolute belief in the full inspiration of the Old and New Testament Scriptures.

• Total commitment to know and to preach none other than Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

• Obedience to Christ's command to love all who love the Lord Jesus sincerely, without partiality, and to love all people.

• Absolute faith in the will, power and providence of God to meet our every need in His service.

Motto
