Educational Projects

One of the main felt needs of the northern peoples of Ghana is for access to better facilities for education.  Good education is seen as the key to better prospects and therefore a brighter future. WEC Ghana sees this as an opportunity to make good contact with the local communities and open the way for planting churches.

WEC Ghana is currently involved in the establishment of a Kindergarten and a Computer and Business College in Tamale.  Land has also been obtained in Wa for a similar project.

Joshua and Caterina Siu moved up to Tamale in 2003 to begin a project to set up a Computer and Business College for the Evangelical Church of Ghana.  With the help of many short-term workers and field visitors through WEC International and the Chinese International Missions (CIM), they were able to train Ghanaians as tutors for the school and develop the curriculum.  The second phase of the building was dedicated in July 2008.

The aim of the project is to establish a highly reputable computer aPhoto of students in the Computer Labnd business college that will attract young people from the local community.

A key part of the daily timetable is the morning gathering where the focus is on personal development.  During this session, Christian principles for life are presented and discussed. The vision is to see the lives of the students transformed  so that they might become people of influence known for their good character, professional competence and commitment to following Jesus Christ.

In response to a request from the Evangelical Church of Ghana, Joshua and Caterina Siu began the building of a kindergarten next to the Computer and Business Training College.  The kindergarten opened in January 2007. Through the specialist input of short-termers experienced in the field of early childhood education, the school got off to a good start and local teachers were trained.

Since then further classes have been added and the first graduation took place in July 2008. Photo of the procession of the Kindergarten Graduates

The goal is

to establish a centre of excellence for early childhood development where the love and compassion of Jesus Christ is demonstrated to families and Christian values are nurtured in young lives.Photo of the Kindergarten children in their pink and white uniforms with the teachers behind

Wa Vocational Training Centre

Under the leadership of Ivy Wong, land has been obtained in Wa and planning permission granted for the building of a facility for vocational training including a computer and business school.  So far a store room has been completed on the site and the building of the foundations will begin shortly once a contractor has been appointed.
